Casting Call for Vikings for History Channel’s “Vikings” Season 5 in Dublin

Casting call for Vikings on History Channel’s “Vikings” season 5

Vikings” uses 1000s of extras throughout the production and season 5 is still casting.  The show held an open call an some months back in Dublin where casting directors  reported to be hiring as many as 8000 extras for season 5 of “Vikings.” The shows casting team is still looking for more Dublin locals to portray vikings in upcoming scenes. The series films in Dublin and Wicklow and is only interested in folks that live within that area. The show is looking to cast fair skinned individuals with light colored hair to work as paid background actors.

Vikings will be returning to the History channel in 2017.  Just a few episodes into the current season (season 4), the network announced that “Vikings” will be getting picked up for season 5. The highly popular History Channel show also extended its current season by doubling the amount of episodes it will broadcast. Like many other shows, “Vikings” cut the season into 2 parts airing the first half during the spring with the second half coming up this fall. Like other shows that split the season into 2 parts, “Vikings” offered up a mid season finale that ended in a cliffhanger and left fans with more questions than answers.

Vikings season 5 cast call

The show includes an international cast and is directed by Michael Hirst (The Tudors).  ”Vikings”  stars Travis Fimmel as Ragnar, a Viking who has been rising to power quickly by killing his competition. By season 3, Ragnar is king.   History Channel’s “Vikings”  had made great use of time jumps in previous seasons. The mid season finale included a major time jump. Following Ragnar’s embarrassing defeat to his traitorous brother Rollo, Ragnar disappears. Ragnar returns many years later to find his young sons all grown up and quite angry with him. So angry in fact that they threaten to kill him and claim his throne.

Season 5 of “Vikings” is already in production. Many fans speculated that season 4 would be Ragnar’s last, however, it seams that he may actually live into the next season. Katheryn Winnick has been posting images and videos taken on set and Travis Fimmel happens to be in some of them. Absent from the set is Clive Standen who plays Ragnar’s brother Rollo.  Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors) has also joined the Season 5 “Vikings” cast. Details of his role are being kept under wraps for now.
