Open Auditions for So You Think You Can Dance The Next Generation coming to NYC
Fox made an announcement saying that the network had renewed “So You Think You Can Dance” for Season 13. However, the upcoming 2016 / 2017 season of the hit reality competition comes with a twist, a big twist. The new season will be a kids edition that will showcase kids who can dance between the ages of 9 and 13. This new season being called “The Next Generation” will see kids being teamed up with celebrity dance partners to compete on national TV. Season 13 of the hit reality dance competition will feature up and coming young dancers paired with seasoned veterans who will hopefully train, groom and mentor the young dancers to victory and of course the large cash prize that will be awarded to the winners.
The long running dance competition is betting on a new crop of dancers, young dancers that may have grown up watching the show saying “I can do this too“. Young fans of the show are getting their chance and maybe even their big break. SYTYCD producers are excited to give this new group a chance to show their moves on TV.
“We are so happy to bring back the award-winning SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE for a 13th season this summer with a brand-new format,” said David Madden, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “The series has captivated its loyal fan base for over a decade, inspiring young dancers across the country and transforming the face of dance in every medium – and we’re so excited to feature a young and talented new group of performers on the series.”
If you live in the NYC area and have a child that loves to dance, read on for all the details.
The “So You Think You Can Dance” casting team is looking for kids who are proficient in contemporary, tap, hip-hop, ballroom, animation or break dancing. The open casting call will be held next week in the NYC area. For kids who missed the online auditions, this may be the last chance to tryout for the show.
The 2016 season of SYTYCD AKA “The Next Generation” will premiere Monday, May 30 at 8 p.m. on Fox. Nigel Lythgoe, Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo will be returning to the show as will the panel of judges and Cat Deeley is returning to host.

Dancers must also have a parent and/or legal guardian accompany them to the audition and any callbacks and sign all required documents.
Dancers must be no younger than 9 as of April 1, 2016 or older than 13 years of age on the first day they register for auditions. Dancers must provide legal, valid proof of age when they register for auditions. More info about the show may be found at fox.com/dance for more info.
