In the small country of Ngoni, a boy who turns 15 is forced to fight for the military. Some choose to join and fight while others choose to resist and run. “SixNine” is a short film about the darkest hour between Bakari and Bomani. Two soldiers fighting the same war, with opposing viewpoints, which ultimately fuels one to make a final decision to end the war.
LEAD ROLES
BAKARI, male, African, age 30 – 35. Bakari is the captain of Ngoni’s powerful military. He is a large man at least 6ft, confident and very sure of himself because of his position. Must be able to speak English and another African language.
BOMANI (1) male, African, male, age 25 – 30. Bomani is the leader of the rebel forces from his village. He was raised in fear of the military but came to hate them after the death of his parents. Several events from his past are explored and reveal that Bomani is even a more determined leader than the military thinks. Must be able to speak English and another African language.
OTHER SPEAKING ROLES
BOMANI (2) male, African, age 10. Fit and in good shape with the ability to sprint, run, and move within a wooded scene.
Must be able to speak English.
BOMANI (3) male, African, age 15. Fit and in good shape with the ability to sprint, run, and move within a wooded scene.
Must be able to speak English.
FATHER African, age 50 – 60. He is well groomed with good skin and has lived a God-fearing, healthy life, and his posture and appearance reflect that. Must be able to speak English and another African language.
MOTHER African, age 40 – 50. She is well groomed with good skin that has dealt with many setbacks in her life but she is strong and has persevered. Must be able to speak English and another African language.
2 SOLDIERS (DRIVER & PASSENGER), male, African, age 20 – 40. Must be able to speak English and another African language.
EXTRA’s
8 SOLDIERS male, African, age 20 – 40. Some will appear as Rebels and Military. Must be able to speak English and another African language.
