ClapBack Queens is an exciting new monthly all women’s roast battle beginning this June at Caffine Underground (447 Central Avenue) in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Art LovHer LLC in partnership with Bondfire radio are developing this unique platform for women comics to joke it out. Unlike any other roast, 6 themed joke off rounds trim 8 comics down to 2.
After an intermission with a featured musical act, the final two comics deliver the speech that will either send them home or crown them that month’s Clapback Queen! Winners earn a cash prize AND a slot in the season finale event, Queens Gambit, our tournament of champions.
Here’s the details:
-Comics can sign up ahead of time by emailing thegodisarts@gmail.com OR can sign up for any available slots the day of the event NO LATER THAN 7:30pm. Caffine underground is located at 447 Central Avenue. Closest trains are the J train at Halsey, or L, M trains at Mrytle-Wycoff.
– There is a $10 entry fee charged for competing comics. Entry fees are pooled and matched by us to create the cash prize.
-Cash prize pot is split between the winner & runner up 70/30.
-Participating comics are eligible for waved vendor fees if they have merchandise they wish to sell.
-Participating comics that sign up ahead of time, are eligible to earn 30% of direct ticket sales. MUST be registered at least 1 week before show date to receive specialized code for ticket tracking.
-Runners up automatically are guaranteed a spot in the following month’s event with waived entry fee and automatic ticket tracking link.
-Any comic that identifies as a woman may compete in ClapBack Queens. We do not discriminate for any reason at all, however, keep in mind this space is being created for women to have space to be as creative, brutal, hilarious & nasty as we want to be without reserve or judgement.
-All rounds are decided by a panel of 3 judges, impartial veteran comics. While audience reaction does not male the final decisions, it does make an impression! So bring your friends/fans!
-DO NOT COMPETE IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE!! MUST BE ABLE TO TAKE A JOKE AND GIVE A JOKE!
