MULBERRY STREET The Musical

Location: New York, NY

“Mulberry Street” is an original musical written by Jerry Strivelli, based on his life on Mulberry Street. At the time of his death in 1993, Strivelli, a prolific actor-writer-director, was working on a staging of this piece in New York City. Seeking strong performers to give the project new life in a special presentation at The Roosevelt Hotel on July 19, 2017. NOTE: See role breakdown below.

This will not be a full production; however, actors will be off-book and backed by a live band. There will be staging and some choreography as well as basic lighting and simple costumes and props. Rehearsals will be held in the evenings. Commitment is approximately three weeks.

SYNOPSIS
“Mulberry Street” is a nostalgic slice-of-life play set in NYC’s Little Italy during the 1950s. This original musical spotlights the Caruso family, fruit peddlers, who emigrated from Italy to find a new life in America. The play covers a period of two years as we watch the first generation Caruso children get caught between old-world tradition and new-world America. “Mulberry Street” is a heart warming musical that will make you tap your toes, laugh out loud, choke back a tear, and lift your spirit.
