‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’

Casting 20 performers for the musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” by Stephen Sondheim, for a 15-performance run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2018. Applicants do not have to live in London but must be able to attend rehearsals in the Chiswick area as stated.
Company states: “We are looking for a total of 20 cast members. At auditions we will be seeing who works well in a group and who can work with other people. We are looking for versatile, talented performers who will blend well in an ensemble and stand out individually. We are looking for strong potential with passion who have done their research into both the company and the musical.
“As we are a young company, we unfortunately cannot pay our actors just yet. However, not only will you be taking part and performing in one of the best written musicals of all time, but you’ll be performing in the biggest performing arts festival in the world. The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is an indescribable experience and anyone who has ever experienced this will tell you so. The fringe is infectious. While we cannot guarantee any exposure or degree of success for a single actor, our previous productions have been watched by industry professionals and been reviewed by some of the top theatre publications. Rehearsals on Saturday or Sunday from 10 a.m -6 p.m. A rehearsal schedule will be sent to all actors at the beginning of each week. Rehearsals will take place at the Catholic Centre in London. Must be available for performances 1-20 Aug. at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. To be performed in the Grand Theatre @ Surgeon’s Hall from 3-18 Aug.
Actors will be required to pay a total of £500, paid in two instalments of £250 to cover their accommodation and travel costs to and from Edinburgh. Founders state: “[Actors will receive] free Admission to SpaceUK shows, one professional headshot, a credit to add to your acting CV, a professional reference for future performance jobs, and be featured on our brand new website.
Auditions will be held on the 3rd March with timeslots available throughout the day and evening. For the audition, please prepare the full version of one musical theatre song (no songs from “Sweeney Todd”). When selecting your song, casting recommends you bear in mind the style of the musical you are auditioning for and where possible choose a song relevant to the character you are auditioning for. You may choose to perform your song a cappella or accompanied by the Musical Director. If you choose to be accompanied, bring sheet music.
