Synopsis:
A film director, who often prefers avoiding conflict, finds themself struggling to muster enough courage to have a much-needed conversation with their significant other during awfully trying times.

DAKOTA (LEAD): Males & Females, 18-27
Protagonist (can be played by either Male or Female – the role is written as male in the script, but can easily be flipped).
Dakota is a student film director who’s unable to properly express themselves in his relationship. They are somewhat of an introvert, but not socially awkward. They feel passionate about their artistry as a vehicle of expression, and as a result, finds it difficult to properly express their emotions outside of the medium.
Dakota is in a romantic relationship with Shannon (the other lead role). They have been together for three years and currently share an apartment together. They work together on film projects, as Shannon is a student filmmaker as well. Due to the extensive time that they need to spend around each other, they have largely avoided confronting the issues in their romantic relationship for the benefit of their working relationship.
Dakota begins to realize that their relationship is at a breaking point, and must decide to confront these issues head-on or hope that the status quo will improve on its own accord.

SHANNON (LEAD): Males & Females, 18-28
Co-Lead (can be played by either Male or Female – the role is written as a female in the script, but can be easily reversed).
Shannon is an introvert type who is very dedicated to the craft of filmmaking as a film student and cinematographer on Dakota’s movie. Dakota and Shannon are in a romantic relationship. They have been together for three years and currently share an apartment together. Due to the extensive time that they need to spend around each other, they have largely avoided confronting the issues in their romantic relationship for the benefit of their working relationship. Shannon is becoming distant from Dakota and, as a result, begins to sense conflict brewing between them. Shannon chooses to wait it out to see if things will improve, however, this becomes increasingly difficult as their film production moves forward.

JOSEPH (SUPPORTING): Males & Females, 18-27
Supporting (can be played by either Male or Female – the role is written as male in the script, but this can easily be flipped).
Joseph is an actor starring in Dakota’s film. The role is based on Dakota’s likeness. Joseph is a passionate, dedicated worker and seemingly has his life put well-together. He has a comfortable level of friendship with Dakota which allows him to be relatively straight-forward when discussing script issues along with personal ones.

ANNA (SUPPORTING): Males & Females, 18-28
Supporting (can be played by either Male or Female – the role is written as a female in the script, but this can easily be flipped).
Anna is an actor starring in Dakota’s film. The role that Anna is playing is somewhat based on Shannon’s likeness. Anna is a dedicated actor who expresses sincere empathy for others. She is able to reason with people, saying the things that she feels they need to hear. She plays a key role in helping Dakota realize that he must face his problems with Shannon head-on?.

As Dakota’s fellow film students, the other crew members are there to assist their peer and improve on their skill crafts?, respectively. They comprise the small but efficient crew for Dakota’s student film.

Rehearsal and Production Dates & Locations:
Rehearses near the end of Oct. in Downtown Cleveland, OH. The dates and times of these rehearsals will be finalized/officiated once the availability of actors is established.
Shoots Nov. 1-3 in the Greater Cleveland area, with pickups Nov. 7-8.
Compensation & Union Contract Details
No pay. Craft services, IMDb credit provided. Accommodations to and from the ?set for those who absolutely need it will be arranged as well.

•Please contact us beforehand in order to reserve your time slot. You may request any time-slot, at your best convenience, within the confines of 10 am and 6:30 pm (as long as someone else hasn’t already reserved that particular time).
Additional Instructions:
Submit at least one recent headshot or clear photo of yourself with a brief bio (primarily age and height, but feel free to add whatever else you feel is relevant). If you have a resumé, include that as well – although, one is not required. Also,? provide as many points of contact for yourself as possible – preferably cell phone number and most used email.
We will not be having open auditions, therefore we ask for you to reach out to us before the audition dates in order to confirm your time slot. If you are unable to make either of the days, please still contact us and we will try to work out a different time for your audition.
There will be plenty of hard-copies? of our script printed for auditioners with selected sides for each character. You should come prepared with either a section of dialogue from this script for your intended role or a monologue from a different script of your choosing.
