“Homeless,” “Pregnant,” “Reconciliation,” vignettes for Catholic fundraiser video

We are producing a promotional video as part of a fundraising campaign for the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, the ecclesiastical district of Catholic churches in the Florida Panhandle. This short video will contain a series of brief vignettes (20-30 seconds each) with storylines that relate to various ministries of the diocese. Dialogue will appear on-screen as floating text next the characters. No speaking parts are required.

We are seeking a 20-32 year old female, a 60-75 year old male, and a male and female couple (preferred) between the ages of 25-50. Compensation is $50 per person for a brief shoot (3hrs or less).

Casting Call: “Pregnant” vignette:
Seeking: 20-32 year old female
Compensation: $50 (for a 3hr shoot, but likely less than 3hrs)
Working title: Catholic Sharing Appeal fundraiser video, “Pregnant” vignette

Description:
The “Pregnant” vignette features a young woman who has just discovered that she is pregnant. She is holding a pregnancy test looking very distressed. The text, “I don’t want to have an abortion, but I’m scared,” appears by her face on screen. She then visits with a pro-life options counselor from Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida. They pray together. Feeling confident in the support available to her, she decides to raise the child. She places her hand on her stomach and the text, “I can’t wait to teach my baby about Jesus,” appears on screen.

Shooting will be brief (one session, no more than 3 hours, likely less) at two locations in the Pensacola area. After the shoot, the actress will receive compensation (a check for $50). This video will not have a credits screen, but actors will be credited in the description of the video on our Vimeo page. Description:
The “Homeless” vignette features an older man dressed as a homeless transient, sitting on a street corner with a cardboard sign that says “Anything helps.” The text, “I don’t want to live like this anymore,” appears on screen. He meets with Deacon Ray, the diocesan Coordinator of Advocacy and Justice. Deacon Ray discusses the option of living at Trinity House, a transitional housing opportunity for retirement age men. They are both seen at the front door to Trinity House, as Deacon Ray unlocks the door and welcomes this man inside. They shake hands. The vignette concludes with a closeup shot of the man smiling or laughing in gratitude.

Shooting will be brief (one session, no more than 3 hours, likely less) at three locations in the Pensacola area. After the shoot, the actor will receive compensation (a check for $50). This video will not have a credits screen, but actors will be credited in the description of the video on our Vimeo page. Casting Call: “Reconciliation” vignette:
Seeking: 25-50 year old male and female, preferably a couple, must be close in age and comfortable acting as a couple
Compensation: $50 per person (for a 3hr shoot, but likely less than 3hrs)

Description:
The “Reconciliation” vignette features a married couple arguing in a living room, shouting at each other. The audio from this dialogue will not be used, but the mouth-movements, motions of hands and visible anger will convey the argument. Lines for the argument scene include, for the male: “You always do this! Why do you keep bringing this up? It was five years ago!” and the female: “You never listen to me! I feel more alone now than before we met!”

The couple is seen taking a break from the argument, sitting at a distance in the room. A close up of the wife character shows her crying (we may use eye drops). Text appears on screen, “All we do is fight. I don’t know what to do.” The couple is seen receiving counseling from a Catholic priest or deacon. A closeup shot shows the couple holding hands with intertwined fingers. The text appears, “Lord, heal our marriage.”

Shooting will be brief (one session, no more than 3 hours, likely less) at two locations in the Pensacola area. After the shoot, the actors will receive compensation (a check for each actor for $50). This video will not have a credits screen, but actors will be credited in the description of the video on our Vimeo page.
