PRETTY WHEN I CRY is a psychological drama about IRENE, a sister-manager of a social media influencer, and her descent into madness due to jealousy and greed. Through social media posts, we discover that VENUS, her younger sister, has been gaining popularity due to being controversial. In reality, Venus is a puppet for Irene’s gratification of success and has been hurting due to false rumours and lack of privacy. Irene has to make a choice between her sister or her desires.
Role 1: Irene
The jealous and fame-hungry older sister manager of Venus.
Race: Chinese (must be fluent in mandarin)
Screen age: mid-late 20s
Physical: natural short/ medium dark hair, average body build
Role 2: Venus
The puppet social media influencer.
Race: Chinese (must be fluent in mandarin)
Screen age: Early-mid 20s
Physical: natural medium/ long dark hair, petite/ average body build, conventionally attractive
Role 3: Father
The cunning father of Venus and Irene.
Race: Chinese (fluent in Mandarin/ dialect)
Screen age: 50s-60s
Physical: Naturally greying hair, big build but lean, cunning look
Role 4: Xiao Lu
The rival of Venus.
Race: Chinese (fluent in Mandarin)
Screen age: Early-mid 20s
Physical: Natural/ dyed hair, petite, feminine look, conventionally attractive
