CALL FOR ACTORS AND DIRECTORS:
The Cafe seeks non-Union actors and directors for select 10-minute short plays and monologues in our 2019 Short Play & Monologue Festival, running July 19-21 and 26-28 at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. We are actively seeking diverse candidates, and encourage submissions from directors and performers of all ages and backgrounds.
IF UNABLE TO ATTEND CASTING SESSIONS: Please contact info@nuyorican.org to participate. In your email subject line, please indicate “DIRECTOR SUBMISSION” or “ACTOR SUBMISSION” and submit a video and resume showcasing your work/experience. Deadline: July 2.
Open casting sessions will take place at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe (236 East 3rd Street) on the following dates:
Thurs June 27, 4-6pm
Fri June 28, 2-4pm
Call backs (if needed): Sat June 29, 2-5pm
Actors and Directors must be available for the following dates:
-At least 10 hours of rehearsal time between July 1-14 (schedule TBD by directors)
-Dress Rehearsals: Sunday July 14, 11am-5pm and Tuesday, July 16, 4pm-8pm
-The Festival runs July 19-21 & July 26-28, with performances taking place Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Each selected work will be performed at least five times during the festival. Playwrights, directors and actors will also be invited to participate in post-show discussions and talk-back sessions attended by school groups.
All participants will receive stipends ($100 for each director & $50 for each actor).
