About the Project:
De lo Mio (tentative approx. 5-10 minutes) is an experimental art video piece investigating gender performance, hyper-masculinity, and machismo. Through the exploration of performative/gendered behaviors, we follow one young person as their own gender performances are revealed. Through experimentation with sound, image, and story structure, this short film places itself into the context of machismo-driven Dominican culture. Taking inspiration from various male archetypes within cinema, our character engages in an internal struggle of self-imaging as he questions his masculinity.
