THE PRAYER – Short film
VICTORIA turns 50 reluctantly. She starts out her birthday with a walk in the park. It is a lovely fall day and beauty abounds; however, she is so troubled in her thoughts that she notices none of it. She finds a grassy field and lies down flat on the ground. Her stress is released into the earth beneath her. Looking up at the sky above her, she says a silent prayer, which ends in a cathartic flow of tears, a release of emotion that leaves her feeling calmer. On her way back home, she sees HELEN, an elderly woman, trip and fall to the ground. She rushes to help her. Luckily, Helen is fine. Next, Helen’s son, Sebastian, approaches with his dog that he had been playing with in the dog park section of the park.
A conversation ensues between the three. Before parting ways, SEBASTIAN, who is grateful for Victoria’s kind help, invites her for a cup of coffee. She happily accepts. They decide to meet the next day. Victoria returns home, now encouraged and enlivened by the meeting. She notices the beauty around her that had escaped her before. She arrives home and eagerly shares with her MOTHER, whom she lives with, what has just happened on the walk. That night, before going to bed, she writes in her journal, recounting what happened that day. While she writes, she listens to a favorite song. After putting away her journal and pen, she pets her cat and drifts into a restful sleep as the song continues playing.

Location: 320 Jackson Hill St., Houston, TX 77007 and adjoining Buffalo Bayou Park
Cast needed: Female, 45-52 years old, Caucasian; Male, 45-52 years old, Caucasian; Female, 70-82 years old, Caucasian.
PAID: Victoria: $150/day (9 hours); Sebastian: $50/day (3 hours); Helen: $50/day (3 hours)
