The Denver Performing Arts Complex will be hosting a production of “A Christmas Carol.”
The Denver Performing Arts production has been a staple of the Christmas season and it is finally returning to the Denver Fine Arts Center in 2023 after a few years hiatus. The show is now holding auditions for youth performers ages 6 to 13.
The Denver Center for the Performing Arts Theatre Company has shows planned for their production of “A Christmas Carol” from Friday, Nov. 24, through Sunday, Dec. 24. The show will be performed at the Wolf Theatre. The production is based on Charles Dickens’ novel of the same name.
About the show:
“A Christmas Carol” is a timeless and heartwarming holiday classic written by Charles Dickens. Set in Victorian England, the story follows the transformation of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge from a bitter and cold-hearted man into a compassionate and generous individual after he is visited by a series of supernatural spirits on Christmas Eve. Through these spectral visits, Scrooge is forced to confront his past, present, and potential future, gaining insights into the impact of his actions on those around him. The novella beautifully captures the spirit of Christmas as it emphasizes the importance of kindness, empathy, and the joy of giving. With its memorable characters, poignant lessons, and a touch of magic, “A Christmas Carol” continues to enchant readers and audiences across generations, serving as a poignant reminder of the true meaning of the holiday season.
DCPA is casting youth performers ages 6–13 for various roles. Parents and guardians can submit their children to the casting directors by Monday, Aug. 28.
Performers cast for the roles will be required to attend evening rehearsals Tuesday through Friday and daytime/evening rehearsals on weekends beginning Tuesday, Oct. 24. Youth performers must also be available for all rehearsals and performances.
