MacGuffin is an independent comedy short film to be shot over 3 days in a residential house in Basildon, Essex. Filming will take place in April/May (subject to change) 2024.
The story follows a group of bickering friends as they try to create a survival plan for the imminent arrival of a nuclear warhead… what could go wrong?
The project has three characters. Manny (laid back, 28 years old, Portuguese heritage), Oscar (anxious, 7 years old, Portuguese heritage), and Daisy (offbeat, 20 years old, British heritage). We are currently casting for the role of Daisy.
Daisy is a 20-year-old who is the intrusive next-door neighbor known for her habit of eating any food that isn’t tied down. She is the sister of the group to her two best friends/neighbors. She is sarcastic and quick-witted, demonstrated through her comedic timing and friendly insults. She is quirky and has an oblivious mindset which means that she is unfazed by the news of the potential on coming death and leans into her supernatural beliefs with an Ouija board. Her home life is difficult with her mother not being the best of carers, so she is used to crashing on a friend’s sofa.
Her wardrobe is inspired by Punk with black boots, a long-sleeved stripy t-shirt, a waistcoat, and fishnet stockings.
