Creative Theatre – Muddy Water Players is excited to announce open auditions for their upcoming 29th season at The Playhouse at Museum Village, located on Route 17M in Monroe, NY.
The Playhouse at Museum Village, nestled along Route 17M in Monroe, NY, stands as a cultural gem in the Hudson Valley. Operated by Creative Theatre – Muddy Water Players, this enchanting venue serves as a dedicated space for promoting the performing arts. The Playhouse, part of a non-profit corporation, offers a rich tapestry of Main Stage performances from May to November, showcasing a diverse range of theatrical productions that captivate audiences of all ages.
Audition Information:
Auditions for the May production of Robert Harling’s eccentric comedy “Steel Magnolias” will take place from 12:00-2:00 pm on February 3rd and 4th.
Directed by David Mossey, the performances are scheduled from May 3rd to May 19th, with a cast size of six women.
Additionally, auditions for the July production of “A Comedy of Tenors,” a hilarious piece by Ken Ludwig, will be held from 2:30-4:30 pm on the same days. Under the direction of Donna Polichetti, the performances are set for July 6th to July 21st, featuring a cast size of four men and three women.
No prepared materials are necessary for auditions.

Character Breakdown for “Steel Magnolias”:
6 Women:
- Annelle Dupuy-DeSoto – a newcomer to town and apprentice beautician.
- M’Lynn Eatenton – a social worker and wife to Drum Eatenton.
- Truvy Jones – a glamour technician and wife to Spud Jones
- Louisa “Ouiser” Boudreaux – Clairee Belcher’s best friend and confidante.
- Clairee Belcher – the widow of the former mayor of the town.
- Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie – M’Lynn’s daughter.
Character Breakdown for “A Comedy of Tenors”:
4 Men 3 Women
- Saunders: High-strung American producer; he’s had success but worked very hard for it and it shows.
- Max: Rising American opera singer and former assistant to Saunders; smart, level-headed, and quick with a joke.
- Maria: Stunning wife to one of Italy’s most famous opera singers; big personality, explosive temper. Tito’s loving, long suffering wife.
- Tito: One of Italy’s most famous opera singers; regal in appearance, fiery in nature; has a bit of a diva complex and is a horribly jealous person. Actor also plays Beppo, a bellhop–joyous and full of life, down to earth.
- Mimi: Bright-eyed star hoping to be discovered; she is the daughter of Tito and Maria and, while they still think of her as their little girl, she is definitely coming into her own.
- Carlo: Dashing, young opera impresario who is in love with Mimi but seen as a threat to her father’s career.
- Racón: Famous Russian opera singer, former lover to Tito, a very intense and passionate woman.
