Miami – Indie Short Film “10 Minutes”

Filmmaker Rene Fornari is holding open auditions in Miami, Florida, for his upcoming short film “10 Minutes”, a dramatic and emotionally driven story set to begin production this December. The project will be submitted to film festivals following its completion and is currently seeking talented local actors for a range of lead and supporting roles.
Auditions will take place over two days — Saturday, August 9, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and Sunday, August 10, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM — at Palmetto Bay Academy, located at 16637 S Dixie Hwy, Miami, FL 33157.
Walk-ins are welcome and will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, with no monologue preparation required. While headshots and resumes are encouraged, they are not mandatory. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

About the Film
“10 Minutes” is a raw and introspective exploration of grief, love, and resilience. The story follows Dan, a devoted husband and father, whose world is upended when he learns that his wife has cancer. Told through an imagined emotional spiral, the film reflects the ways in which one traumatic moment can echo throughout time and relationships.
The project will shoot from December 5–7, 2025, and is a non-union production. Compensation includes copy, credit, meals, and potentially a stipend depending on role and budget.

Roles Being Cast
DAN (Lead, Male, 35–45)
A devoted father and husband. Emotionally intelligent but deeply shaken by his wife’s diagnosis. Must portray vulnerability, fear, and introspection.
LEAH (Lead, Female, 30–45)
Warm and grounded. Leah’s quiet strength and calmness help hold the family together. Requires subtle emotional nuance.
JULIEN (Supporting)
Child version: Male, 8–10
Teen/Young Adult version: Male, 17–22
Sensitive older son who struggles with grief through adolescence into adulthood.
JAKE (Supporting)
Child version: Male, 6–8
Teen/Young Adult version: Male, 16–20
Impulsive and emotionally open. He challenges his father early on but finds clarity and growth as he matures.
DAN’S FATHER (Supporting, Male, 60–70)
Grounded and wise. Serves as a source of clarity and guidance for Dan during a pivotal moment.
