Late Night Productions and KD Conservatory are casting for their upcoming non-union short film When the House Goes Quiet, a raw and emotionally driven drama centered around addiction and family. Auditions will be held August 2–3 in Dallas, TX, with callbacks August 6–7 and filming scheduled for August 15–17. Video submissions are accepted through August 5.
CASTING NOTICE: SHORT FILM – “WHEN THE HOUSE GOES QUIET”
Production Company: Late Night Productions/KD Conservatory
Logline: After picking up her mother from the hospital following an overdose, a guarded young woman is forced to confront years of emotional neglect and codependency only to realize that love alone can’t save someone who refuses to be saved
Audition Days: August 2nd-3rd (9am-1pm)
Call Back Days: August 6-7
Shoot Days: August 15-17

Roles:
- Diane: Female, Mid 30s to Mid 405 A woman worn down by addiction and years of emotional wounds. Once full of life and love, now frayed at the edges. Struggles to hold onto her identity and sense of worth. She deeply loves her daughter but constantly sabotages herself.
- Young Lena (KII) ROLE) Female, age 8-12. A bright, imaginative child full of warmth and curiosity. Loves her mom unconditionally. Represents innocence, hope, and the emotional core of Diane’s regrets.
- Lena: Female, Early to mid 208. Diane’s daughter. Grounded. self-reliant, and emotionally weathered. Kind but guarded. She carries the weight of her childhood but still craves the connection she never got from her mom. She’s trying to break the cycle, especially now that she’s pregnant.
- The Man: Male. Late zos to Mid 30s. Represents toxicity and neglect. Loud, dismissive, and selfish. Doesn’t care about Diane or Lena. A temporary partner to Diane, more of a leech than a lover.
