BBC Casting Call for “Shift the Thrift” with Joanna Page. UK Only
The BBC and One Tribe TV are on the lookout for contestants to take part in Shift the Thrift, a brand-new, TV series presented by Joanna Page. The show will see couples, friends, siblings, or colleagues compete to hunt down bargains, transform them with creativity, and flip them for profit in a thrilling auction.
But there’s a twist. The twist is contestants won’t just be shopping and selling, they’ll be competing against each other.
Guided by host and avid thrifter Joanna Page, participants will explore charity shops across the UK, hunting for unique finds and hidden treasures. Each episode kicks off in a different town, where Joanna and two guest experts present teams with a shopping list that includes a refashioned item challenge and a localised scavenger hunt.
Contestants will customize their finds with the help of Britain’s top social media upcyclers, then craft a compelling sales pitch before entering a high-energy, live-streamed auction. The ultimate goal? To sell their pieces for profit, with proceeds donated to the contestants’ chosen charity shop.
Shift the Thrift describes itself as a fast-paced fun, friendly rivalry, offering plenty of surprises, all while raising money for good causes.

Casting Notice:
Joanna Page is looking for couples, friends, siblings or colleagues that are looking to take part in a fun challenge for a cause close to their heart.
But there’s a catch… you’ll be competing against each other.
Contestants are challenged to uncover charity shop gems, transform them with flair, and sell them in high-energy, live-streamed auctions. From vintage bric-a-brac to upcycled denim, the competition culminates in the ultimate test of their selling skills, with profits going to the contestants’ charity shop of choice, and they’ll be guided along the way by avid thrifter Joanna Page
About the show:
Each episode begins in a different UK town, where Joanna and two guest experts explore the local charity shop scene and introduce the teams to a custom shopping list – which always includes an item to be refashioned and a localised scavenger hunt challenge. Participants then each customize one item with the help of some of Britain’s best social media upcyclers and prepare a sales pitch, before taking part in a fast-paced, live-streamed auction.
