“Barbershop” is coming back and it’s filming in Chicago this fall.
Want to get in the act? Well, if you live in the Chicagoland area, you can. The “Barbershop” series will be filming this fall in Chicago, Illinois and they are currently seeking Chicago area locals who would like to make some extra cash by working on set.
Some history about “Barbershop”
The story of Calvin Palmer Jr. begins with the successful 2002 film Barbershop, starring Ice Cube as Calvin. The film chronicled Calvin inheriting his father’s Chicago barbershop and discovering his place in the community and his identity as a business owner. The sequel Barbershop 2: Back in Business followed in 2004, and in 2016 the story continued with Barbershop: The Next Cut, which addressed deeper issues within the neighborhood while maintaining the humor and heart of the original.
In May 2025, Amazon Prime Video announced that a new television series based on the Barbershop franchise has been ordered, set to continue into 2026. The show stars Jermaine Fowler as Travis “Trav” Porter, the grandson of the original “legendary barber” of Calvin’s. In this version, Travis returns to the iconic Calvin’s Barbershop in Chicago.
Production is slated to begin around November 24, 2025, yes, in Chicago, and it will be filming through the spring of 2026.

This show takes place in a barbershop, so many scenes will be set there, so we will have people at various stages of haircuts (some customers waiting for a haircut, some folks just sitting in the chair, others mid-haircut, others finishing up).
We MUST have a current look that REFLECTS your current hair!!! We know that some folks wear alternative hairstyles, but please upload the look that you wear most frequently. You need to show up on set looking like the photo you used to represent your current look.
