Treasure Coast Theatre Announces Auditions for Thornton Wilder’s Timeless Classic “Our Town”

Treasure Coast Theatre in Port Saint Lucie, FL,  is excited to announce open auditions for its upcoming production of Our Town, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Thornton Wilder. Directed by Jillian Kober Cooke, this beloved American classic tells the story of life, love, and loss in the small town of Grover’s Corners.

Auditions will take place on Sunday, June 8, and Monday, June 9 at 7:00 PM at Treasure Coast Theatre. Performances will run for three weekends from September 12 to 28, 2025, with shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2:00 PM.

Actors will read from the script; no monologue is required. Please arrive early to fill out an audition form. A headshot and résumé are appreciated but not mandatory. All roles are open. Some may be doubled. The production is seeking 2 to 5 female actors and 8 to 15 male actors of various ages and types.

About the Show

Set in the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, Our Town paints a moving and deeply human portrait of everyday life in a small community. Told through the eyes of the Stage Manager, the play follows the Webb and Gibbs families as they navigate the quiet beauty and inevitable struggles of life, from childhood to marriage and ultimately to death. A deeply touching exploration of ordinary moments, Our Town remains one of the most performed and cherished American plays of all time.

Roles Available

Stage Manager (Any gender, any age): The narrator and philosophical observer of the town’s events. Breaks the fourth wall and guides the audience through the story. Must be comfortable with long monologues and audience interaction.

  • Dr. Gibbs (Male, 30s–40s): A respected doctor and loving father. Grounded and kind, he quietly reflects on the passing of time and life’s simple pleasures.
  • Mrs. Gibbs (Female, 30s–40s): Warm, practical, and quietly wistful. Balances household duties with dreams of adventure beyond Grover’s Corners.
  • George Gibbs (Male, late teens–20s): Dr. and Mrs. Gibbs’ son. Honest, innocent, and good-natured. Falls in love with Emily Webb.
  • Rebecca Gibbs (Female, 11–15): George’s younger sister. Inquisitive and playful, with a flair for mischief.
  • Mr. Webb (Male, 30s–40s): Editor of the town newspaper. Observant and wise, with a warm sense of humor and a deep love for his family.
  • Mrs. Webb (Female, 30s–40s): Stern yet loving mother to Emily and Wally. Practical and straightforward, with deep emotional strength.
  • Emily Webb (Female, late teens–20s): Intelligent, thoughtful, and spirited. Her love story with George is central to the play.
  • Wally Webb / Joe Crowell / Si Crowell (Male, 10–13): A great opportunity for a young actor to portray multiple roles, each offering a glimpse into small-town life.
  • Howie Newsome (Male, 30s–40s): The town’s milkman. Friendly and familiar, a staple of daily life.
  • Simon Stimson (Male, 30s–50s): The troubled choir director, burdened by personal demons. Complex and tragic.
  • Constable Warren (Male, 50s–60s): The gentle town constable. Friendly and supportive, with a deep sense of community.
  • Mrs. Soames (Female, 30s–50s): Chatty and cheerful, often adding levity and charm to town events.
