Netflix’s “Women Like Us” is Filming on Shelter Island.
There is an extra casting call for Hampton area locals who would like to get a small role in the film.
Netflix is bringing an all-star cast to Shelter Island for “Women Like Us“, a new comedy about friendship, family and starting over.
About the film:
“Women Like Us” stars Whoopi Goldberg, Jenifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams and Vivica A. Fox. The Netflix feature is directed by Tasha Smith.
“Women Like Us” follows a recently widowed woman who is taken to the Hamptons by her sister and longtime friends on what would have been her 30th wedding anniversary. The weekend becomes an opportunity for the women to reconnect, deal with grief and rethink what comes next in their lives.
Ali Kinney wrote the screenplay, with additional writing by Tracy Oliver. James Lopez and Poppy Hanks are producing for MACRO Film Studios, while Anikah McLaren and Mark R. Wright are producing for Higher Ground, the production company founded by Michelle and Barack Obama. Michelle Obama is executive producing.
“Women Like Us” is filming on Shelter Island and other areas that are close to what is called the Hamptons area.
Filming schedule:
“Women Like Us” began filming a few weeks back and is scheduled to run through October 1st. According to online reports, The Pridwin Hotel and Cottages are serving as a primary filming location. Furthermore, filming is also planned around Crescent Beach.
