Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate NY is holding open auditions for its upcoming production of The Color Purple: The Musical.
The production is scheduled to run at theREP from January 28 through February 7, 2027.
The Color Purple is a musical based on Alice Walker’s acclaimed novel and features music, songs and choreography as it follows Celie’s journey through hardship, family, love and self-discovery.
Auditions are open to performers, and no sign-up is necessary. Those interested can simply show up for the open audition.
Actors interested in auditioning should watch for the troupe’s audition details and attend the open call.

AUDITION DATES:
Thursday, October 1st, 6-9 PM
Friday, October 2nd, 6-9 PM
Saturday, October 3rd, 2-6 PM

Time Commitment:
ALL auditions should plan to remain for the entire audition session or until dismissed by the director.
Auditions:
Please arrive be prepared to once you arrive to to check in and complete the required audition forms.All auditionees should prepare 16 bars of a song in the style of the show. Sheet music is welcome. Following the vocal audition, some actors may be asked to read selections from the script. No advance preparation is required for the readings.
Callbacks:
Some auditionees may be asked to participate in a dance/movement callback.
Please wear or bring comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes for movement. Callback dates and additional details will be provided at the auditions.Come be part of this powerful story of resilience, love, sisterhood, and finding your voice. We can’t wait to see you there!
