DC Theater Auditions, Staged Reading of “Madres de la Revolución”

A Reading Of The New Play, Madres de la Revolución

Location: Washington, DC

Type: Theater

I am hosting a reading of a play I wrote at Oxford University last summer. The reading will take place Sunday, June 12, 5:00-7:00 pm in the Reinsch Auditorium at Marymount University in Arlington, VA.

I am looking for people in the DC area theatre community to read for the characters (both male and female roles available). While the play takes place in El Salvador, I do not require all the actors to be Latino for the reading. All are welcome! That said, Latino actors will be given preference.

My play is titled Madres de la Revolución and is based on the real life testimony of a mother in El Salvador who fought as a revolutionary commander in the Salvadoran Civil War and was later imprisoned by the regime. The play is all about how she, like many other women, relates motherhood to revolutionary activism and becomes a unique leader as a revolutionary mother.

While the play incorporates some Spanish, it is primarily in English. Anyone who does not speak Spanish will have no trouble understanding the script.
