BETA/ Dystopian Student Thesis Short Film
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Set in the distant future, a dystopian, American society divides people into castes of Alphas and Betas from birth, where they are allowed to only associate with people from the same caste. Illegally, an Alpha guy falls for a Beta girl, forcing them to join the underground rebellion to save their lives when their government finds out.
This is Savannah Sonja Mosse’s Student Thesis short film. It will be 20 minutes, and copy;credit;meals;and deferred payment will be given as payment. We will be shooting March 17th, through the 26th. It will be 6 shoot dates for the lead cast.
Character BIOS
CASSIA [Female] [AGE: 22] [6 SHOOT DAYS]
Cassia is your typical Beta Girl, average looking and living an average life as a data entry office worker. She lives on her own, in her tiny Condo. She has always felt out of place in this society, but has never understood why until she meets Aksel.
AKSEL [MALE] [AGE: 28] [6 SHOOT DAYS]
Aksel is your typical handsome, over-achieving Alpha type. He is the head of the Research and Science department at his job, and lives a cozy life with his wealthy family. He is currently dating Arissa, although most Alphas in this society remain polyamorous. He has always felt like the treatment of the lower castes is wrong, but does not know what to do about it until he meets Cassia, who finally pushes him to become a Rebel like he’s always dreamed of.
ARISSA [FEMALE] [AGE 23] [1-2 SHOOT DAYS]
Arissa is a tall, gorgeous blonde who relishes in the fact that she was born an Alpha. She gets a bad taste in her mouth at the thought of Betas and avoids them at all costs. She is wealthy and her father is the owner of L-Tech, the company both Cassia and Aksel work for. She is the one who finds Aksel and Cassia together, and turns them in.
PRESIDENT [MALE] [AGE 40’s or older] [1 SHOOT DAY]
The President is a totalitarian dictator, but he puts on a large facade for his nation, rigging elections every few years so that he keeps winning and they believe they chose this life. He is an older man that we will only see through news broadcasts. He often repeats slogans that his campaign has created, such as “appearances are the secret to success”, that have become ingrained idioms to society.
