“The Lonesome Animal” centers around Tom, a high school outcast in a rural town, who suffers from a secret reading disability. Whilst being pressured by the school’s unenthusiastic administration to drop out, his assigned peer tutor, Molly, finds out about his disability and takes it upon herself to tutor him so that his love for playwriting and need for the self expression he’s missed out on for so long can be realized.
MOLLY (17-20) – ALL AROUND HIGH SCHOOL GOOD GIRL. POPULAR, KIND, SMART, PRIVILEGED. THE PRINCIPAL’S DAUGHTER. IDEALIST BUT UNSURE OF WHAT SHE WANTS IN LIFE.
TOM (18-20) – HIGH SCHOOL TEEN OUTCAST WITH A HIDDEN READING DISABILITY. VERY CLEVER, BUT QUIET AND ISOLATED. SOMETIMES SURLY BUT ALWAYS INTRIGUING. HAS A PASSION FOR WRITING DESPITE HIS DISABILITY. FEELS THE ENTIRE WORLD IS AGAINST HIM.
