Attention future toy soldiers, gingersnaps, and dancing candy canes! The Red Chair Children’s Production Company in Burbank is holding open auditions for young performers ages 5 to 18 for its annual production of The Nutcracker. Boys and girls active in the performing arts are encouraged to audition for this lavishly staged holiday classic ballet. Available roles range from the colorful ensemble of Victorian-era party guests, toy soldiers, mice, snowflakes, Land of the Sweets treats, to principal roles such as Clara, her brother Fritz, the Mouse King, and The Nutcracker. The Red Chair’s The Nutcracker is one of the few Los Angeles-area ballets featuring youth in prominent roles along with adult performers in a high quality, pre-professional production.
Open Lead Casting Call
Saturday, September 21st from 3:00 – 5:00 pm
Includes: Sugar Plum Fairy, Cavalier, Spanish, Arabian, Marzipan, Snow Queen, Chinese, Soldier, Mouse King,
Nutcracker Prince, Dew Drop Fairy, etc…
Intermediate to Advanced Dancers must present a solo audition piece that exhibits their performance, artistry and dance ability.
The piece should not exceed 2 1/2 minutes. Auditions are first come first serve. Auditioners will need to be available for call backs on Sunday 9/22, 3:30-5:30 pm
Clara Auditions: Sunday, September 22nd at 2:00 pm.
Looking for young ladies between 10-13 years old considered to be a minimum intermediate level ballet dancers.
Pointe preferred but not necessary.
Open Casting Call Sunday September 22nd:
9:30 am – Age 5 years:
Casting theatrical children that move well and exhibit good focus and level of maturity.
10:00 am – Ages 6-8 years
: Casting theatrical children with 1 year of recent ballet experience.
11:00 am – Ages 8-10 years:
Casting theatrical dancers with a minimum of 2 years recent ballet training.
12:00 pm
Ages 10-12 years:
Casting theatrical dancers considered to be intermediate to advanced level ballet training.
1:00 pm – Ages 13-21 years:
Casting theatrical dancers considered to be intermediate level ballet training.
3:30 pm – Ages 13-21 years:
Casting theatrical dancers considered to be advanced level ballet training.
