A film about “White Boy Rick” is now casting the Lead Role in Movie and open auditions for the role of Rick are coming up this weekend.
Producers of “White Boy Rick” will be holding auditions in the Detroit area for a Caucasian actor to play Rick in his youth. The movie “White Boy Rick” is expected to begin production in the Detroit area this coming fall of 2015. Studio 8, the makers of a feature film about Detroit’s notorious White Boy Rick are holding a talent search to find someone, an actor in Detroit who can play him in the new movie. Metro Detroit casting directors, Pound & Mooney Casting will be hosting the upcoming open call.
Do you look like White Boy Rick? The film makers are hoping that somebody does because they are searching for an actor to play Richard Wershe Jr. A movie is being made about Rick who became famous in the Detroit area in the cocaine plagued 80’s. The saga of White Boy Rick, as he was nicknamed, and his involvement in the drug empires spurred by the 1980s crack plague, became famous in metro Detroit.
According to the Detroit free press, An open casting call is planned for May 2 for a movie about the life of Richard Wershe Jr., who was was 18 in 1988 when he was sentenced to life in prison after being busted with 650 grams of cocaine.
The open casting call is scheduled for 1-6 p.m. May 2 at Michigan Actors Studio, 648 E. Nine Mile Road in Ferndale. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a photo with full name and contact information attached. Metro Detroit-based Pound & Mooney Casting is handling the event.
Candidates must resemble Wershe as a youth. He’s described as “Caucasian, baby faced, street-smart and a born hustler” with swagger and charm beyond his years.
