Open Casting Call info for “Black Panther”
“Black Panther” will not begin production in the Atlanta area until January 2017, however, the casting team is trying to get a jump start on extras casting and will be meeting with talent on November 5th and 6th. A good portion of the movie is set in Black Panthers homeland of Africa and casting directors will be needing many African American background actors, ages 18 to 90. Casting directors with Tammy Smith in Atlanta have been working on this one for some time now and held a casting call back in July as well. Seems that there will be lots of detailed costumes on this one and they are trying to nail down talent available for filming ASAP, so they can get everyone fitted for those costumes. Also, looks like there will be some featured spots that will need to be hand picked by the director.
This is round 2 now and folks that missed the Black Panther casting call over the summer have another chance to be considered. As of now, the movie is only seeking adult extras and the open call is only for talent over the age of 18. “Black Panther” casting directors are especially interested in talent that have fighting skills such as MMA, boxing, wrestling, stick fighting, etc. Also, they will be needing folks that are great on the drums.
Casting directors state that at some point they will be casting some minors, but, that will be at a later date and available roles will be announced in upcoming weeks. For the 2 upcoming casting sessions, minors will not be seen and everyone is asked to refrain from bringing their kids. This is for extras work and all extras cast can expect to be paid around $100 per day on set.
For this particular open casting call, casting directors are asking folks wanting to work as paid movie extras on the project come dressed to impress as photos will be taken onsite. They are looking for great traditional African looks as well as afro-punk and tribal looks. People with tattoos and piercings are welcome on this one.
Black Panther’s character was introduced in the last “Captain America” film and Black panther was one of the characters in the Avenger’s Civil War. According to Cinemablend, Marvel promises an entirely new adventure, set is another country and introducing fans to an entirely new culture. What we do know about the plot is that it will be political, focusing on T’Challa’s challenges as the king of Wakanda. In “Black Panther,” T’Challa, the new ruler of the advanced kingdom of Wakanda, must defend his land from being torn apart by enemies from outside and inside the country. Chadwick Boseman will be playing T’Challa / Black Panther.
