The Austin Film Project (www.austinfilmproject.com) is shooting it’s presentation project (SHORT FILM) at the end of February in Austin. The project will be for live premieres and presentations of the AFP around Austin.

It follows the character of John, a stubborn and now feeling empty and irrelevant older man as he meets Debra, a travelling nurse who helps him rediscover that you’re never to old to live and enjoy life.

JOHN

Role Description: John is a stubborn older gentleman who lives with his daughter’s family following the death of his wife. He meets Debra, and falls in love with her and she teaches him you’re never too old to live.

DEBRA

Gender: Female

Ethnicity: Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, Asian, Southeast Asian / Pacific Islander, Ethnically Ambiguous / Mixed Race

Role Description: Debra is a really outgoing and enjoyable woman who lives to help others rediscover life. She works as a travelling nurse.

AMY

Role Description: Amy is the daughter of the lead character of the story, John, who lives with her. She is married to Steve and has two teen-aged kids of 13 and 15. She is very important to the character development of John throughout the short.

STEVE

Role Description: Steve is the lead’s son-in-law, John, who lives with them. He is important to show the family dynamic and his relation with John. He is married to Amy and has to teen-aged kids of 13 and 15.

Ethnicity: Caucasian

Role Description: Brendon is the eldest son of the household, the grandson of the lead character, John. Important to the story for family dynamic and to show parallelisms between the character of John and (a teenager) Brendon .

ZACH
Role Type: Day Player
Gender: Male
Age Range: 13-16
Ethnicity: Caucasian

Role Description: Zach is the youngest grandson of the lead character John, who lives in the same house as him. He is important to show family dynamic and that John’s daughter, Amy, has other priorities in her life as well.

Unless any changes happen, it is a passion project with no compensation. But it’s a great opportunity as we’re growing in Austin and this is our presentation project, and there will be many more, as well as premiering this in various venues throughout the city.

If possible, with application send availability for casting dates and shooting for the month of February (if you work another job, go to school or have shoots planned out already)
