Ottawa chief who helps organize a combination of tribes against the British. Pro-French, Pontiac (AKA Obwandiyag) speaks fluent French and some English. A brilliant tactician on the battlefield and in council. His prime goal is free trade and independence for the tribes, but he has to play a dangerous game in order to remain politically relevant, especially when more aggressive leaders threaten to take over his authority. Pontiac is not bloodthirsty—violence is a means to an end. He comes to see Croghan’s peace offer as a chance for a win-win situation.

Shawnee chief—German father, Shawnee mother. Catholic; fiercely anti-British.
