CASTING CALL:
We are looking for a 9-year-old girl from a BAME background to play the protagonist role of ALISHA in our short film “Just Kids”, which will be shot in Ruislip (near West London) on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June 2023.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
“Just Kids” is a short film inspired by the true story of Alisha – a 9-year-old girl who struggles to be accepted as the only girl on her rugby team – and her opponent Ben – a boy who suffers from his mother’s tough-guy expectations. After an inevitable clash, Alisha understands the other children are not where her problems come from…
The film’s goal is to raise awareness about the dangers of gender roles and stereotypes with the support of charities and organizations that will use the film as part of their activities with families and schools. The film will also be distributed through the international film festivals circuit (E.g. Berlinale, BFI London Film Festival, Raindance Film Festival) with the goal of collecting industry awards. The project was financed independently through crowdfunding.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER:
Compensation will be provided for the performance.
Everyone involved will be invited to a private cast & crew screening of the film and will receive a link to watch the finished film. You will also be notified each time the film will be publicly screened in London, in case you are interested in attending the event.
During the shoot, lunch will be provided for everyone involved. Healthy snacks and drinks will be available throughout the day, and professional chaperones will be employed to comply with safeguarding regulations in case a parent will not be able to attend.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Age: must be 9 before 24th June 2023, can be older if she looks like she is 9 on camera.
- Ethnicity: from a BAME background (Black, Asian, or other minority ethnic)
- Preferable skills*: ideally able to play rugby, previous acting experience is not required
- Availability: filming will take place on Sat 24th and Sun 25th June 2023 in Ruislip (UK).
