Casting Call for “Honey Don’t” Directed by Ethan Coen

Are you an aspiring actor in Albuquerque, NM? Here’s your chance to be a part of the new movie that will be filming in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area and directed by Ethan Coen.

According to the New Mexico film office, “Honey Don’t,” will be filming in New Mexico from March to May. Casting both principal speaking roles and background non-speaking roles. Please note that we’re collaborating with Ellen Chenoweth, so if you’ve already auditioned with her office, please refrain from resubmitting or contacting them again unless directed otherwise. Thank you for your cooperation!

An open call will be held on Saturday, February 24th, at Homewood Suites, located at 7101 Arvada Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, from 10 am to 5 pm.

Information: LOCAL NM CASTING (day player & supporting roles; speaking) TO PORTRAY:

Roles:

MR. NOVOTNY – Male, 50’s, open ethnicity. He is the father of Mia, a young woman who recently died in a car accident. Mr. Novotny is described as a grizzled pot-belly drunk with an unshaven face who is coasting on disability as Honey (a PI) investigates Mia’s bedroom.

HILTON BARTENDER – Male, open to all ages/ethnicities. He’s a bartender at the Hilton Garden Inn where he shares a one-word conversation with Colligan prior to witnessing his murder through a window. He’s “another day at the office” type.

BLONDE WOMAN IN BED – Female, 20s, Caucasian, blonde, she’s in bed with Honey after a night of fooling around & red wine. Lanky, androgynous, younger than Honey. Her hair mussed, face slightly flushed, smiling in a dreamy state. MUST be comfortable w/implied nudity (but no actual nudity); she will be laying under the sheets next to a female.

MIA NOVOTNY – Female, 18 – 23, Caucasian with a fresh & innocent face. She’s only ever seen as deceased (upside down in a car) & in a framed photograph.

BRANDI – Female, 20s, open to all ethnicities, bouncing on Priest Dean along w/another free-spirited woman named Cara. Breasts exposed as they contort their 4 limbs across his body while wearing a metal-studded jockstrap. This comedic entangled sex scene later turns into a gunfight, leaving the woman screaming under the bed covers. MUST be comfortable w/nudity & simulated sex.

CARA – Female, 20s, open to all ethnicities, bouncing on Priest Dean along w/another free-spirited woman named Brandi. Breasts exposed as they contort their 4 limbs across his body while wearing a metal-studded jockstrap. This comedic entangled sex scene later turns into a gunfight, leaving the woman screaming under the bed covers. MUST be comfortable w/nudity & simulated sex.

YOUNG WOMAN – Female, young, open to all ethnicities, busty woman having doggie-style sex w/ Dean all while holding a mirror for him to see her breasts. Moments later, they’re walked in on. MUST be comfortable w/nudity & simulated sex.

YOUNG POLICEMAN – Male, 20s – 30s, Caucasian, described as a short dark-haired policeman filling in for MG who has a brief interaction w/Honey (a PI).

BIG LITTLE JOEY – Male, 50s, father of Little Joey Jr., who is described as a grizzled, burly trucker who wails, blubbering, over dead son’s body. Must be able to cry on cue & physically carry weight of his (dead) son.

LITTLE JOEY JR. – Male, 20s, son of Big Little Joey, an addict who overdoses (off camera.) but deceased body is seen on camera, being held by weeping father.

TAVERN BARTENDER – Female, open to all ethnicities, bartender at a blue-collar bar that is filled with uniformed cops. This bartender can command a room with her voice. Fierce, solid, tough yet calm.

WIENER GIRL – Female, 18 – 25, open to all ethnicities, works in the kitchen at Wiener Heaven, colleague to Corinne. She dismisses Corinne’s fear of the OLD MAN at the bus stop.

BUS DRIVER – Male, drives bus. Grizzled, gritty. MUST have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

SHUGGIE – Male, open ethnicity, described as a tattooed muscled henchman. Bonus if you’re Australian BUT not a requirement.

MICKIE – Male, 18 or older to play late teens, Caucasian (but open to all ethnicities), Corinne’s (Honey’s niece) deadbeat boyfriend. He beats Corrine (but loves her oh-so-much), lives in a trailer park, wears his pants below his butt, you know the type. MUST be comfortable w/a fight scene.

COLLIGAN – Male, early 30s, open ethnicity, a well-groomed & slick gay man who is cheating on his boyfriend. A simple drug purchase at a local dive bar takes a violent, fatal turn.

DIZZY – Male, 6 -10 to play 8, Bi-racial, his mother is a character in the script who is white. His father is not a known character in the script, so he could be any race. Dizzy is a smart, funny & hyper active kid living in a trailer park in Bakersfield, CA w/his mom & four (soon-to-be five) siblings. He can’t sit still & is quite earnest. He has an innocent crush on his Aunt Honey – in a cute & naive way – not a creepy way.

MR. SIEGFRIED – Male, 30s – 40s, open ethnicity, variety of body types welcome & encouraged. He is described as a well-groomed germaphobe gay man who hires Honey (a PI) to uncover who his boyfriend is cheating on him with. The boyfriend is later killed and Siegfried is devastated. Looking for a good character type.

MRS. NOVOTNY – Female, 50s, White, the mother of Mia, a young woman who recently died in a car accident. Mrs. Novotny is gritty, haggard, worn down by working-class woe. Her daughter had called Honey (a PI) the day before she died. Honey visits Mrs. Novotny to try to discover why her daughter called. Looking for a good character type.

LARRY JR. – Male, 18 to play 16, open ethnicity, his mother is a character in the script who is white. His father is not a known character in the script, so he could be any race. Larry Jr. is a heavily acned teenager living in a trailer park w/his mom & four (soon-to-be five) siblings in Bakersfield, CA. Various looks, hair colors & body types are welcome & encouraged.

STEVE JR. – Male, 18 to play 15, open ethnicity, his mother is a character in the script who is white. His father is not a known character in the script, so he could be any race. Steve Jr. is a pimpled, disgruntled teenage boy living in a trailer park with his mom & four (soon-to-be five) siblings in Bakersfield, CA. Various looks, hair colors & body types are welcome & encouraged.

OLD LADY / ABUELA (HECTOR’S ABUELA) – Female, 60s or older, Hispanic or South American indigenous, a sweet woman who meets a sudden and untimely end. MUST be comfortable with blood and laying on the ground for an extended period.

GARY – Male, 30s – 50s, Bi-racial, the owner of Guerrero’s, a local dive bar. He has seen it all as a bartender. Honey (a PI) comes to ask him about his former employee, Mia Novotny, who recently died in a car accident. Honey suspects foul play.

ELLE (PIANO PLAYER) – Female, 40s, open ethnicity, a local broad who plays the piano at Guerrero’s (a dive bar complete w/animated champagne glasses on a neon sign) in Bakersfield, CA. Elle’s best days are long behind her. Please submit crossover artists – musicians who can act or actors who can play the piano well BUT not a requirement. Looking for a character type with a good dry, deadpan tone.

PORK BELLY – Male, a rural, gritty Bakersfield type, henchman to Dean, who constantly shrugs, seemingly dense, aka “not a lot going on upstairs.”
