Faith-Based Comedy A Very Southern Church Filming in Myrtle Beach
Wesely Bros production company is now casting for its upcoming feature film A Very Southern Church, a faith-based comedy filming this summer in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The production, the company’s sixth full-length feature since 2020, begins shooting August 5 and runs through August 30, 2025.
A Very Southern Church is a heartfelt comedy exploring life lessons and the ways we can all treat each other better, told through the lens of small-town Southern charm. The final available roles offer beginning actors an excellent opportunity to gain resume credit, on-set experience, and work with a production company that produces a feature film every year, with the potential for larger, higher-paying roles in future projects.
Available Roles:
- Jacob — Male, White, 18–25. Appears in 8 scenes, 20 lines. Films August 9, 13, 14, 19, 20, 25, 28.
- Jake — Male, any race, 20–29. Appears in 1 main scene (5 lines), but also plays a member of the church baseball team appearing in 3 additional filming days: August 13, 14, 25, 28.
These roles pay $50/day, and actors must self-report, as travel and living expenses are not covered. Casting will be based on headshots and reels, although auditions may be requested for the Jacob role if no reel is available.
Limited overnight accommodations will be provided at the private home of the casting contact for those commuting more than 1–2 hours.
Crew Opportunities:
Those interested in donating their time as Production Assistants are also welcome. PA volunteers will receive IMDb credit, good meals, and valuable on-set experience. While unpaid, these roles sometimes lead to paid crew positions during production.
How to Apply:
Interested talent and crew should email AlanRayActor@gmail.com with headshots, reels (if available), and contact information.
