Casting extras in NYC for South Asian Talent – Netflix’s Unaccustomed Earth

Grant Wilfley Casting, Inc. is seeking Indian American performers to work as background extras for the upcoming Netflix streaming series Unaccustomed Earth. Filming is scheduled in New York City from September 2025 through January 2026. Both SAG-AFTRA and non-union talent are encouraged to apply.

Unaccustomed Earth is an eight-episode dramatic adaptation of Jhumpa Lahiri’s critically acclaimed short story collection. The series is set in an upper-middle-class Indian American community in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and centers on the emotional fallout when a devoted wife rekindles a past romance—unleashing hidden tensions, cultural conflicts, and family secrets. The project is executive produced and showrun by John Wells, with Madhuri Shekar writing and Nisha Ganatra directing the pilot. Jhumpa Lahiri serves as executive producer and ensures the adaptation retains its emotional depth and authenticity. Freida Pinto stars in the lead role of Parul Chaudhury.
