Those Who Can’t – An Original Musica Huats by Jay Handgen Dow
Valley Repertory Theater Company and Those Who Can’t LLC are thrilled to announce an open casting call for Those Who Can’t, a new original musical. The auditions will take place on Sunday, June 22nd from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Denair Gaslight Theater, located at 3998 N. Gratton Road in Denair, CA.
Those Who Can’t, written by Jay Handgen, a veteran educator with 21 years of classroom experience, dives deep into the complex and often overlooked world of teachers. This original production explores their daily struggles, emotional resilience, and the powerful truth that bullies don’t always sit in student desks. With humor, honesty, and a powerful message, the show offers a fresh and compelling perspective on the lives of educators.
The creative team is now seeking talented actors and singers for a stage-read/sing-through of the show. Auditioning performers are encouraged to bring a headshot (a recent non-professional photo is acceptable) and an acting résumé. Participants should prepare a 1–2 minute monologue (comedic or dramatic) and a vocal selection to be performed a cappella.

For the audition, please bring a headshot (recent non-pro photo is fine) and acting resume. You will be asked to perform a 1-2 minute comedic or dramatic monologue of your choice and one song. The songs will be performed acapella, so be prepared for that.
