I am currently casting for my directorial debut and am I’m seeking out the lead for it personally.
The project is a short film, the script is 20 pages. Currently, there is no pay other than food and exposure, but ideally, we’d like this short to serve as “pilot” for a web or full-length series, so staying involved with our production company can lead to further development with the series as well as open you up to casting in other projects (the production company is young, but has already completed an eight episode webseries as well as two feature films that will be debut and be seeking distribution this year).
The main protagonist of our short is “The Kid,” a 17 year-old white male, short to average height and hair length, ideally with “piercing” baby blue eyes. Obviously, you don’t have to actually be a teenager, but able to pass with a shave a little a makeup. The Kid is smart and well spoken for his age, but not overly talkative. His current growing pains include a general nihilism that has lead him to several suicide attempts, but miraculously, he always manages to survive.
Oh, and he’s about to commit his very first contract killing.
I am pretty flexible on hair/eye color, but they do need to be preferably white or fair skinned. The concept of “the Kid” is that his ambiguity and average look allow him to hide in plain sight. Personality-wise, I would place him somewhere between “Brendan Frye” from Rian Johnson’s Brick and “The Driver” from Drive. Visually, I picture a Dane Dehaan-type, but again, I’m flexible.
We’re hoping to hold auditions next weekend, but we haven’t set a specific time/date as we’re seeking to find everyone’s mutual availability. If this sounds like something you’d like to read for and be involved with, please shoot me in an email with your information and we can talk shop.
