Auditions for Disney Movie “The Jungle Book” Extended

Great news for anyone that missed the deadline to audition for the lead role of Mowgli in the Disney Pictures remake of the classic, “The Jungle Book“!

Auditions have been extended through the 17th.  Disney casting directors are now accepting online video submissions from those who would like to tryout for the lead role in the Disney film. Kids from all across the US are welcome to apply for the lead of “Mowgli“.  Disney is doing a nationwide search for a boy 10 to 12 who can take on the role in the live action version of the classic cartoon.

One lucky boy will have the chance to join the  A list cast which may include  Scarlett Johansson and Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong. Both actresses are currently in talks to also star in the film.

The movie already had a casting call last month but Disney casting directors decided to extend the deadline into this month.

The Jungle Book is about an orphaned young boy, Mowgli, who gets stuck in the Jungle and ends up being raised by wolves and other jungle animals including a bear and a panther. The movie has had quite a few adaptations including a big screen version and a live action one. Now, the story will be retold by Jon Favreau, the director of Iron Man. The new movie will be released in 3D and promises special effects and CGI galore.

The latest news reports that “Iron Man’sJon Favreau will be producing and directing the film for Disney Studios. Favreau has not done a family oriented film in sometime, actually the last one he worked on was  the sci-fi adventure, Zathura.

The auditions are open to all levels of acting experience, including no experience at all. This is for the lead role and everyone can apply. They are looking for a boy between the ages of 10 to 12 to play the orphan who was raised in the jungle by a pack of wolves. Walt Disney Pictures is producing the project which already has a release date set of October 2015.

Lead Role of MOWGLI:

The deadline for the Mowgli online search has been extended to June 17th, 2014.

Casting Director Sarah Finn is accepting self-taped submissions for a child actor, age 10-12, who can effectively portray a character of East Indian heritage, to star in the new Disney film adaptation of “The Jungle Book”. The role being cast is Mowgli, who is “soulful, engaging, bright and athletic. He can be mischievous and impulsive, but is equally caring and creative. He has a noble and courageous spirit, which give us glimpses of the true hero he will become.”

via the website which was setup by the film’s casting directors.

The Jungle Book is based on the collection of short stories by Rudyard Kipling from 1894.

The film will begin production soon and is currently is scheduled for a 2015 release in October.
