New superhero comic book based series is coming.
Sony is working on its first TV series for the Playstation. Earlier Sony announced that the new streaming series will hit our TV screens this coming September and and according to CBR, Sony has ordered 10 episodes of the new comic book based, live action series.
The Bendis and Oeming’s ‘Powers‘, a creator owned comic, has been a successful for the last decade and Sony will now be bringing the story to its millions of PS4 users. The show will be available to Sony’s base of Playstation Plus subscribers this winter.
‘Powers‘ is about 2 detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, who live in a world where superpowers are not that uncommon. In possession of such powers are not just the good, but the evil as well and the detectives investigate crimes committed by super powered villains. The show is looking for lots of extras. Last week there was a call out for extras to play the super villains, this week, there is another call out for the superhero crowd.
A “Powers” TV show has been in the works for quite sometime. In 2011, FX was thinking of developing the show and created a pilot, however, the pilot never aired and the project was never picked up for a full series. Now Sony has decided to pick up the series and it is about to begin production shortly in the Atlanta area.
‘Powers’ will star Sharlto Copley as Christian Walker, a ex superhero turned cop after losing his powers. Michelle Forbes joins him as Deena Pilgrim.
Also, according to CBR, ‘Powers’ will be produced by ‘The Walking Dead’s‘ Circle of Confusion. Circle of Confusions’s David Engel, David Alpert and Lawrence Mattis will serve as the show’s executive producers as will Bendis, Oeming and Michael Dinner (‘Justified’). David Slade (‘Twilight: Eclipse’, ‘Hannibal) will be directing.
‘Powers’ will be filming in Atlanta and casting directors at CL in Georgia are looking to fill lots of extra roles including the core group of superheroes which will begin working on the show on the 3rd.
