Sony’s New Series ‘Powers’ is Casting lots of Extras in Atlanta Ages 18+

New TV series ‘Powers’ casting many roles

The Playstation is working on it’s first TV series. Yep, it seems that Sony’s platform is joining Amazon and Netflix in the streaming, original series arena. CL casting has released another casting call for extras in the Atlanta area to work on scenes filming for the series next week and the week after. “Powers” is looking for men and women of all ethnicities, 18 to 23 with some unique looks, colored hair, piercings, etc. This will work after the holidays on the 7th and 12th of January 2015 and talent applying must be available for both days. The movie’s extras CD’s are also seeking to cast some military types.

David Slade (“Twilight: Eclipse“, “Hannibal“, “30 Days of Nights”) is set to direct their first TV show, “Powers“, about regular (non-superhero) cops who have to fight bad guys who have super powers.  The series is based on a comic book, of the same name.

According to Beyond Hollywood, “Powers,” started out as an FX Channel TV series, the pilot was made but the show went no further and the pilot never aired. Now Sony has picked up the rights and will finally make the series. The show is based on the novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming.

Sharlto Copley  will star in the new show. Sharlto Copley will star as Christian Walker a cop with a dark and violent streak who is quick to act often jumping in first and thinking it through after the fact. Walker had once had super powers, but lost them in a fight. The ex super hero is now working as a cop investigating crimes that are committed by people with super powers.

Beyond Hollywood describes the character as…

darkness and violence at his surface but with a sense of buried integrity. The character jumps first and thinks later. Dapper and charismatic, he has the dissolute air of a faded rock star and the body of a battered heavyweight. Once possessed of super-powers, Walker lost his powers in a battle with a super-human mass killer. A faded hero, he’s now a detective who works with law enforcement, using his singular expertise to investigate crimes in the Powers community.

The show is currently or about to begin filming in Atlanta and is scheduled for a December release date on the PS….? network.
