Open online auditions have been announced for Disney’s “High School Musical 4”
If your dream has always been to be a Disney star, well here is a chance to audition for Disney’s casting team. The company is now casting for it’s upcoming musical, “High School Musical 4” and looking for teens 14 to 17 to star in the production.
The online casting call begins this week and talented teens all over the US will have a chance to audition for the Disney Channel / Disney XD movie. Casting directors for Disney have once again announced that the online auditions will be done through Disney’s Applause APP that talent may download to their mobile devices.
Auditions are being held online beginning on the 18th of this month and the deadline to get your audition videos in is May 2nd.
If you miss the online auditions, Disney has also announced an open tryouts in Los Angeles. See Tryout for The Disney Channel – Open Auditions Announced
Auditions are for the 4th installment of Disney’s popular “High School Musical” franchise which debuted in 2006. The original “High School Musical” film starred Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens. The High School Musical story began with Troy Bolton (Zac Efron), star athlete at a small-town high school who fell for nerdy beauty Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Anne Hudgens) at a holiday karaoke party. Subsequently, Troy and Gabriella end up auditioning for a musical produced by their school. However, others at their school are not going to make it easy for them. The jealous Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale) conspires to squelch their chances. The two must struggle to make it to auditions while also meeting their existing obligations to the basketball team and the academic decathlon.
Jeffrey Hornaday (Disney Channel’s Teen Beach Movie, Teen Beach 2) will be directing and choreographing the movie. The script is being written by Disney veteran writers, Dan Berendsen (Disney’s Hannah Montana: The Movie) and Peter Barsocchini, who wrote previous High School Musical films for the Network. The 4th High School Musical film is being produced 10 years after the original. The movie is one off Disney Network’s biggest hits with the soundtrack alone selling millions of copies worldwide. Natalie Hart and Kendra Patterson are the casting directors for the upcoming project.
Gary Marsh, Disney Worldwide President, commented about the upcoming feature as well as the online call to find the next generation of Disney stars, “It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we’re excited to announce ‘the start of something new’ — as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the High School Musical franchise.”
Every years Disney Channel and Disney XD hold an open casting call for up and coming new talent. The event usually draws thousands of hopeful kids and their families. Last year, Disney held their open auditions online during the summer. No word yet as to whether this is the annual open call event or if Disney is still planning to hold another set of online auditions this summer for their annual open call. Last summer during the open call, many people complained that the Applause App was having problems and that the audition APP may have been overloaded. Hopefully, the kinks have been fixed and teens applying will be able to create their audition videos and submit them easily.
