Paid gig ($50-$200 depending on role)

AUDITION DATE:
Auditions will be held Saturday, June 9th from 3 pm – 7 pm in CALGARY, AB. Director will accept digital submissions if talent is unable to make audition date.

SHOOTING DATES:
Saturday, June 30, 2018 and Sunday, July 1, 2018 (not all characters are required all days)

FILM LOGLINE/BRIEF:
Chasing Tears is a coming-of-age murder mystery inspired by the Highway of Tears. Jay Crowchild’s bright and hopeful college basketball career is threatened when he begins to experience disturbing visions of a young woman being kidnapped. Discovering the young woman is real and missing, he must decide whether to pursue his love for basketball or step into the dark unknown to answer her plea for help.

ROLES/CHARACTER BRIEF:

Jay Crowchild (Principal): A young First Nations man who recently graduated and is looking to follow his NBA dreams in the USA with a College Basketball Scholarship. Only one thing really gnaws at him, feeling like an outsider in his own community, Tsuu T’ina First Nation.
Age: 18

Geraldine: A First Nations Rancher living on Tsuu T’ina First Nation and trusted friend of Jay Crowchild’s mother. She will try to pass on the wisdom of her people and help Jay understand the importance of these visions, guiding him with this difficult decision.
Age: 50-65

Rose: A young First Nations woman still wrapped up in the thrills of being in high school and naive to the dangers that lurk in the shadows around her.
Age: 16

Kidnapper: A mystery man who’s face is always in the shadows. His presence revealed through his intimidating steps, controlling hands and cold shoulders.
Age: 16+

Riff Raff 1 & 2: Two little rascals from Tsuu T’ina First Nation riding around on their bikes causing trouble whenever possible. Boy, Girl or Gender Neutral.
Age: 6-12
