Open Theater Auditions in Green Bay Wisconsin for “Waiting for the Parade”

The Theatre on the Bay at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay, Marinette Campus, invites talented actresses to audition for the upcoming production of “Waiting for the Parade.”

 

Waiting for the Parade” by John Murrell stands as a poignant exploration of the human spirit during World War II. Set against the backdrop of wartime Canada, the play unfolds the narratives of five diverse women, each grappling with the profound impact of the conflict on their lives. From Marta, a German immigrant facing discrimination, to Eve, a school teacher troubled by the pro-war sentiments around her, the characters navigate a landscape of courage, tension, humor, and musicality. Murrell’s script captures the essence of ordinary hopes and despair, painting an honest and compelling portrait of individuals facing the trials of war. The play has earned critical acclaim for its authenticity, with reviewers praising it as a “small masterpiece” that skillfully weaves together the threads of these women’s lives as they await the return of their loved ones. Through its rich storytelling and exploration of universal themes, “Waiting for the Parade” remains a timeless and impactful work that resonates with audiences.

Audition information:

Auditions will be held in the Theatre on the Bay Choir Room T-117 from 6-8 p.m. at the Herbert L. Williams Theatre on the UW Green Bay, Marinette campus. Interested individuals, aged 18 and above, can secure a 10-minute audition time slot by reserving online. Upon confirmation, actors will receive details about their audition and monologue options for preparation. Additionally, participants should be prepared to read excerpts from the script during the audition.

The auditions, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, January 15 and 16, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m., will be open exclusively for an all-female cast.
