“GET ON UP” – Open Casting Call for Extras in JACKSON
Another open casting call for extras is scheduled for November 17th at the central High School in Jackson Mississippi. The film begins shooting in Miss. this month and is still looking for paid extras. There were previous castings in October for the same film.
All types and ethnicities are needed for the movie, but producers especially need younger men and women, 14 to 30, military types and African American men and women. Please see all the details below.
About the film:
“Get On Up” is a biopic about the life of the Godfather of soul, James Brown. The film features an all-star cast that includes Dan Aykroyd, Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Lennie James, Chadwick Boseman and many others.
The movie is directed by Tate Taylor and 42’s Chadwick Boseman plays James Brown. The film is based the life of the famous singer and will follow James Brown through 3 decades spanning from childhood to his rise to fame and becoming one of the most influential musical figures of his time.
Academy Award winner Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, 8 Mile) and Erica Huggins (Flightplan) produce for Imagine Entertainment, with Mick Jagger and Victoria Pearman (Shine a Light) producing under their Jagged Films banner. Under his Wyolah Films label, Taylor also serves as a producer on Get on Up, while Wyolah’s John Norris executive produces alongside Trish Hofmann and Peter Afterman.

-ALL TYPES of MEN, WOMEN and CHILDREN, ALL AGES (age 0 to 80!!) are needed
– CAUCASIAN and AFRICAN AMERICAN
however, the following specific types are especially needed
- Younger men and women, ages 14 to 30, Afr. Amer and Cauc. for school scenes and also concert scenes!!
- African American men and women, all ages for church scenes as well as concert scenes (the Apollo, etc..)
- Attractive Caucasian men and women for a Hollywood scene in 1964 – ages 18 and over
- Military Men, all ethnicities, ages 18 to 35 for a performance scene by James Brown during the Vietnam war!)
Important Notes:
>IF you have a CURRENT PHOTO (smaller size,- 4 x 6, 5 x 7, etc…) that we can keep, please bring one” (OR a photo will be taken at the casting). Headshots and resumes are welcome as well.
>Hair requirements: This is a period film that spans 1940 thru 1990. Men should start letting their hair grow for us to shape as needed. Women, please sign up or submit photos with your natural hair length and color visible. If women have extremely short hair, please also let it grow a bit. The majority of this movie takes place before 1975, so the hair will need to be styled to look period correct (from the 1940s thru the early 1970’s!!)
>Please come dressed either in your “Sunday Best” or a nice casual outfit. Again, please come with your hair styled so that we can see the real length.
> This is for PAID extra work – the basic pay rate is $64 for 8 hrs (8 hr guarantee), with overtime after 8 hrs. A normal film day is a 12 hr day or more. This is a fun opportunity to come and hopefully work on the movie for a day or two as an extra, without a full-time commitment, if you are chosen!!
