Open Auditions for Feature Film – Memphis

Memphis, Tennessee

Various roles available including a major role for a child.

Indie Film “Free in Deed” will begin filming in Memphis in early 2014 and open auditions are scheduled for actors who would like roles in the project.

The film is described as “An intense drama about a pentecostal preacher trying to help a struggling, single mother and her autistic child.” The movie is based on actual events that occurred in 2003 in which a child dyed during a church healing service. In the film, the preacher and the mother try to heal an autistic 8 year old boy.

Free in Deed will film in January and February 2014.

Seeking:

A key role will be for an African-American boy age 8-14 to play a major part as a severely autistic, non-verbal child who can at times act violently. No acting training or experience necessary.

Other roles:
African American men, women and children of all ages.
Caucasian men and women from 30-50.
A Caucasian boy, 5 years old.
An adult Indian male.

all kinds of people: actors, non-actors,
pros, real people, all ages (infant to elderly), types, shapes, sizes, styles

 

The film is also seeking paid crew as well as interns who would like to help out.

 

The film stars  stars David Harewood ( “Homeland”) and  Edwina Findley (“Treme” and “The Wire”)

The film is seeking to cast Memphis locals in roles. They are seeking both experienced and non-experienced actors of all ages.

    I would love to be an actress. I love to act. I just don’t know where to start. I live in Vicksburg, MS and there is nothing here to start my career but traveling is not in the budget right now. So I try to audition in places that are not to far from my home town. If you could please give me an idea on whats the best option for me.
