I was a Senior at Woodlawn in 1973-1974 season. While it is true we were still racially separated in a lot of ways and we did have
some confrontations, the school was not “filled with racism and hate”!! I enjoyed my high school days and never was I ever
afraid to go to school or did I have to suffer metal detectors, graffiti destruction or cops paroling the halls. Tony did indeed do a lot to improve relations and I have always admired his talent and determination to be successful in all of his pursuits.
