National Anthem Auditions
As THE PLAYERS Championship gears up to commemorate its 50th Anniversary, the tournament is extending an invitation to Northeast Florida’s talented individuals to audition for the opportunity to perform the National Anthem during its annual military appreciation ceremony and concert on Tuesday, March 12th.
Local performers of all age groups are encouraged to take part and showcase their rendition of the national anthem.
The Players Championship is one of golf’s most prestigious and eagerly anticipated tournaments, celebrated for its rich history and exceptional competition. Held annually in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, this championship stands out as a hallmark event on the PGA Tour calendar. Notably, The Players Championship is often referred to as golf’s unofficial “fifth major” due to its significant status within the sport. This esteemed tournament attracts the world’s top golfers, who vie for the coveted title and a substantial purse. Beyond its competitive nature, The Players Championship is renowned for its iconic 17th hole, the “Island Green,” which has become an emblematic symbol of the event.
Interested musicians should upload a video and complete an application by 5 p.m. on Monday, November 6th. After submission, auditions will undergo a judging process, and if chosen, the winner will receive notification via email from the tournament.
Some info:
- Participants must live in the five-county area of Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns counties.
- Individual vocalists, group vocalists, and instrumentalists are invited to audition. All vocal auditions must be performed a cappella (no musical accompaniment).
- All performances must adhere to the traditional tune of the Star-Spangled Banner and must not exceed two minutes.
- All video auditions to be recorded horizontally and use a video link such as YouTube, Google Drive or DropBox, with public permissions. Audio files, tapes, or CDs will not be accepted.
- Must be available on Monday, March 11th for a dress rehearsal at TPC Sawgrass and on Tuesday, March 12th for the live performance at THE PLAYERS. Finalists must also be willing to participate in a second virtual audition date in the fall.
