Surprising Grace, a Non-Union Independent short film to hold auditions in Eau Claire, WI. Please note that all roles are non paid. Surprising Grace is a film about Jesus and how he is patiently waiting to offer grace and truth to those who will seek him. Nicodemus discovers this when he visits Jesus secretly one night.

Please note shooting will take place on weekends (2/4-5, 2/11-12). Shooting schedule is tentative and subject to slight change

[JESUS] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 30-35]
Jesus is lodging with followers of the Way who run a house for the needy. He insists on sitting up late into the night waiting for someone he is sure will come.
[NICODEMUS] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 45-60]
Nicodemus is a member of Sanhedrin, the Jewish ruling council. He is a teacher of the law who thinks he knows what truth is, until the rumors of Jesus begin to circulate. Tormented by doubts, but afraid of the ridicule of his fellow Sanhedrin, Nicodemus sets out in the night to find Jesus and learn the truth about him for himself.
[BROTHER] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 20-30]
Brother runs the house for the needy along with his two sisters. He sees to Jesus’ needs, while trying to understand why he, the Messiah, does not simply heal all the people in the shelter or miraculously change their circumstances.
[OLDER SISTER] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 25-35]
Older Sister is calmly thoughtful and caring. She runs the house for the needy along with her younger brother and sister. She soaks in Jesus’ words, while trying to understand why he, the Messiah, does not simply heal all the people in the shelter or miraculously change their circumstances.
[YOUNGER SISTER] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 20-30]
Younger Sister is dedicated to her work, efficient, and a worrier. She helps her sister and brother in the house for the needy. She wishes Jesus would just heal all the people in the shelter or miraculously change their circumstances and be done with it; instead of visit and do nothing but wait.

Jewish ruling council members who are inflamed over Jesus’ teaching and argue amongst themselves.
[JEWS] [GENDER: MALE/FEMALE] [AGE: 0-90] [BACKGROUND ACTORS]
Jews who attend teaching by Nicodemus in the temple courts. Poor and sick Jews who are being cared for at the House for the Needy.
